Welcome to Zege community campsite and picnic area!

On the top of Zege peninsula, the community campsite and picnic area is awaiting your visit. The best views of Lake Tana and Bahir Dar, as well as a coffee made from the best Arabica coffee beans from Zege are awaiting those, that opt for a stop at this beautiful place.

You can reach the site via car and a 5min walk from Afaf – or you take the rewarding hike up from Ura port (approx. 1 hour, uneven terrain and steep parts) through the lovely coffee forests of Zege. Just follow the signboards behind Ura monastery!

If you want to stay overnight, tents can be rented at the site and the community is happy to prepare simple food. Just make sure you call ahead! Toilets and even showers are available – as is a campfire site.
